The DM&E Cutting Load Indicator (CLI) monitors and displays cutting forces in tow cutters. Cutting load in a radial blade cutter is a combination of two forces. The first is the force required to cut the fiber. Second, additional forces transport the cut staple toward center of the cutter reel for discharge. Total denier, denier per filament, cut length, crimp, material, and the pin shape are only some of the factors that influence each value. The CLI dynamically displays and measures these combined forces during the cutting process.
The Cutting Load Indicator screen displays an instantaneous graph of cutting pressure, and a graph of the load average over extended periods. The CLI also provides continuous digital readout of each value. Adjustable alarms for peak and average loads may be used to stop the cutter and signal for operator attention.
All software and hardware are included. Field installation on existing systems is available and optional for installation on all new cutters.
